Fishing
Fishing. The thing you actually do.
Casting
To fish you must:
- Have your rod equipped.
- Have bait.
- Cast your rod into a body of water. This includes wells and toilets.
To equip your rod, press TAB to bring up your inventory. You can either click the rod OR press a number (1-5) while hovering to assign it to your hotbar.
Equip your rod and bait, cast into water, and you're fishing!
Note: if THIS is visible in the bottom right corner, you don't have any bait selected. Press B to open your tackle box and select some bait.
If you HAVE no bait, go buy some! Bait can be purchased from these mounds dotted around the map.
Yanking
You hooked a fish! Well done. A minigame begins where you must reel in the fish. To reel it in, hold left click.
Once you get to one of these gates (internally called "yanks"), you must mash left click to break through.
Once the minigame is done, you've caught a fish! You can sell fish at the mound.
Catches
Every creature has a tier associated with them. A higher tier sells for more and requires better bait to catch.
There are 3 types of catch. Saltwater, Freshwater, and Junk/Misc.

Sale prices
When you sell a fish, its worth is calculated based on size and quality.
Know how to read the most basic format of spreadsheet? Congrats!
Here is every single possible sale price of every fish.
Metal detector
You can use a metal detector to find stuff!
You can purchase the Metal Detector for $100 from the shack on the coast.
Once you have your metal detector, equip it and wander the map. You'll know when something is nearby because you will hear a beeping and see a red circle above your head. The faster and higher the beeping, the closer the loot.
Once you are close enough, the mound will appear and you can collect the treasure.
It should be known that metal detector loot is worldwide, meaning that anyone can come along snatch your stuff up if you aren't fast enough. Fortunately, the loot will spawn again somewhere else. The mound locations aren't set, the game actually spawns them randomly across the map for a short duration. There is a maximum of 7 metal detector mounds at a time, and the game is always attempting to spawn them. 4 spots are spawned when the world host creates a world. A mound lasts for approximately 3 minutes.
(Technical note: Metal detector mounds are spawned by the host player's game instance, which might explain metal detectors not working sometimes since the game currently has massive desynchronisation issues.)
The best way to efficiently find metal detector loot is to:
- Wander the map until you get a beep.
- As soon as you start beeping, keep walking in the direction you were initially facing. Best to move forward with W.
- Your beeps will get faster or slower. Move backward and forward until you have the highest and fastest beeps. You are now at the best positioning along that axis.
- Switch to moving either left or right with A or D. Move until you have the highest and fastest beeps. You are now at the best positioning along that axis
- It is likely you overshot slightly when moving backward and forward earlier, so move a little with W and S again to find the mound if it has not revealed already.
Your path will look something like this.
Here are the extracted loot chances for metal detecting.

The money bag when fishing is always 15%. Higher luck doesn't increase the chance of getting the bag, only the quality of the coin bag (and consequently the sell price). Final luck upgrade gives you Alpha.
